Ph/Lisa Galesloot for afterDRK

It’s Fashion Week in Amsterdam! This is what you can expect from me, a major load of photos to kinda show you the events and shows through my eyes.

The identical Dutch sisters Spijkers en Spijkers had the honor to kick off the week with their SIS by Spijkers en Spijkers S/S 2012 collection called Bain du Soleil. A collection inspired by seaside visitors in France and Olympic swimmers with Marie Braun as their muse.

Last season, Jan Taminau kicked off Fashion Week with his amazing collection so well that I think it’s hard for a ready-to-wear brand to top that off…and they didn’t. To me, the collection can be called fun and easy, but not really something that filled me with excitement, even though some of the colors did make me pretty excited (mint green, yummy!). It’s not that I think the collection was bad or ugly, but I’ve seen those sisters done better (previous two seasons) and I just think an openings evening needs something just a tad more special to make the guests excited for the rest of the week.

After SIS by Spijkers en Spijkers and a short break, it was time for Tony Cohen to show his new collection. There were floaty dresses in a lot of different colors and prints and as some of you might have read on my Twitter, this wasn’t really my cup of tea. I did like some of the pants though (last picture).

Over all, the evening was ok and on other notes, the fact that there was a Frozz stand in the fashion tents made my day.

I was wearing a beautiful strapless dress from Pauline van Dongen‘s Morphogenesis collection, with shoes from Yves Saint Laurent.
