THE ULTRA TEN

I am getting a lot of questions regarding the 5 piece french wardrobe thingy I was trying. Well, to be honest, I failed. There’s still too many things in my wardrobe that I don’t really wear any longer and I think I have to get rid of those first. The idea behind the 5 piece french wardrobe thing is still somewhere in my head whenever I go shopping and it does help me to prevent doing bad bargains. As I grow older and get to know my style more and more, I do less and less bad bargains. I know exactly what I like and due to the fact that I see my outfits on photos at least 4 times a week, I get to see exactly what works and what does not work for me.

Speaking of getting rid of the things that I don’t wear any longer, they’re going to be for sale on my shop. There’s not really much going on there right now, but after I get back from Curaçao, there will be a major update.

This image is from Ultra, a core wardrobe of ten pieces for a year made of organic and recycled fabrics, for the ultimate wardrobe minimalist. Such a cool idea!

After two months of waiting impatiently in front of my mailbox, my new love has safely arrived, thank god for the good services of Lafayette in Paris. I have been wanting this bag for months and months and when I finally gathered the guts to get it, it was sold out everywhere (worldwide). I looked in Florence, in New York, in Amsterdam, the beauty was nowhere to be found. Until my boyfriend took me to Paris and I came to the conclusion that a waiting list was my one and only option.

Words cannot describe how much I love this bag.

WARDROBE/ JEANS HEAVEN

Photo. Me

After I loosened up my rules about the 5 piece thing just for my week in New York, I’m back on track. I haven’t bought anything since I’m back, though that wasn’t really that hard, considering only a week and a half passed by.

Anyway, I’ve shown you my favourite t-shirts already, time for my favourite jeans. I have 3 pairs of Cheap Monday jeans (2 identical black ones, 1 blue one) and ever since I bought my first one I’m hooked. Now I know a perfect pair of jeans is different for everyone, since no one has the same figure or proportions, but I’d suggest you at least try Cheap Monday. They’re pretty cheap and for me they’re as close to perfect as it can get.

Apart from Cheap Monday, I’m also a huge fan of Acne jeans, though I only own one pair, since I don’t really buy jeans very often.

ps: I’m not getting paid for saying this, I’m just speaking out of good experience.

5 PIECE/ THE PERFECT T-SHIRT
02:03 - 06/02/2011, all, wardrobe

Some of you asked me for advice on which brands to get for basics to be able to do the 5 Piece French Wardrobe thing. I think it’s different for everybody, but I do want to give some recommendations or tell you about my favorites.

Now the search for the perfect t-shirt is a hard one, but for me it has definitely come to an end. I have tried tons and tons of different brands in price ranges varying from only 5 euros up to 120. I thought I found the perfect one when I bought my grey T by Alexander Wang t-shirt, but I didn’t. The fit of those is perfect, but the quality kinda sucks for something that costs 80 euros. You have to wash them by hand and they get those plushy bobbles (don’t know the English word) on them after a very short while.

Also the ones from Acne look pretty good and you probably all know by now that I am a huge Acne fan, but I don’t like their t-shirts either. Also the fit is very good, but the hems get twisted and I hate that. Also the reason why I don’t buy H&M tees.

About a year and a half ago, I bought a white pocket t-shirt from COS for 25 euros. Not only the price is perfect (for me at least), also the fit and the quality is pretty damn good. The hems don’t get twisted and it still looks good after a lot of washes. That’s why I decided to get two new ones in white, one in black and one in lightgrey yesterday in Düsseldorf.

WISHLIST/ ACNE PISTOL
09:00 - 25/01/2011, all, wishlist

My wishlist keeps getting smaller and smaller and I think that’s a good thing. I mean, there’s always things that make me crave and there always will be, but there’s not many things at the moment that I really really truly want. Except for these Acne Pistol boots, they’re the perfect black ankle boots for everyday wear and I would count them as a basic.

I guess I kinda gave up on the Celine Boston bag. No, let me rephrase, I didn’t give up on the Celine Boston bag yet, but there’s one big giant other thing that I really want (and need) right now, if I want my blog to survive. I’m talking about a new Macbook Pro. The one that I have is about three or four years old and is starting to show defects, so it needs to be replaced as soon as possible.
