IN MOTION

Going in a more sophisticated -with less colors and prints- collection, Ready to Fish_ presented their new collection called ‘In Motion‘ in Amsterdam on Tuesday. Inspired by movement of dancers, they came up with clean cuts and simple pieces, while trying to keep it refreshing. Going through the collection, I fell for the amount of white, a black semi-sheer long shirtdress and a coated dark jeans -which is nothing new, but I have never seen such a nicely done coating before.

CLAES IVERSEN

Claes Iversen got the honor to open Amsterdam Fashion Week last night, with a mix of elements from his previous collections. The Danish designer opened with minimalistic looks in grey and neutral tones, followed by colorful floral prints and butterfly decorations. What I really liked about his show was the storyline and how the neutral tones fluently went from bold floral looks to more dramatic colors and dresses. My favorite piece from this SS2013 collection is that black long sleeved dress with an amazing amount of handwork. I personally would have loved to see a different shoe, this silver one looks a bit cheap to me in comparison with the super chique collection.

DENNIS DIEM

To be honest, I wasn’t too excited about this seasons’ Amsterdam Fashion Week schedule. Now I don’t want to be all negative about my own countries Fashion Week, but it’s just not what it used to be. The big designers like Jan Taminiau and Iris van Herpen are showing in Paris (and I would have done the same if I were them) and the week is now filled with commercialism, kind of.

Now that the week’s over, I’m still not too excited about everything I saw this week. However, Dennis Diem didn’t fail to impress me. I’m not sure if the use of alligator skin on corset dresses and toucans peckers as heels is less cruel than the major amount of fur one of the Dutch designers ‘threw’ on their models, but I was definitely wowed by the collection. You could see everything was well made (handmade!) and the designer has thought his collection well through.

A strong collection to end our Fashion Week with.

AWESOME THINGS

Looks like my week has been more than awesome so far. It started with being photographed by the amazing Carli Hermes AND a huge feature on the Dutch news. I can tell you I don’t get nervous in front of a photographer very easily, but this felt so cool my lips started to weirdly vibrate, haha! I’m still not sure wether I like it or not (trust me, it’s not mr Hermes, it’s me), but I thought I’d post it anyway. The week ended with over 10.000 ‘likes’ on Facebook. I say let the awesomeness continue!
