CLAES IVERSEN

Claes Iversen got the honor to open Amsterdam Fashion Week last night, with a mix of elements from his previous collections. The Danish designer opened with minimalistic looks in grey and neutral tones, followed by colorful floral prints and butterfly decorations. What I really liked about his show was the storyline and how the neutral tones fluently went from bold floral looks to more dramatic colors and dresses. My favorite piece from this SS2013 collection is that black long sleeved dress with an amazing amount of handwork. I personally would have loved to see a different shoe, this silver one looks a bit cheap to me in comparison with the super chique collection.

Back in Paris, I also got the honor to view the Hermès collection from up close. I’m not lying when I tell you the different leathers they’ve used for the collection are the most buttery soft ones I ever felt in my entire life. Doesn’t even feel like leather any more, SO good! What I loved most about the Hermès show was the slightly oversized silhouette, created with different layers and textures. Not to mention that super dark green coat worn over a white blouse and just one shoulder. It’s like the 2.0 version of the wearing-a-coat-as-a-cape trend. Genius!

On the fourth day of Paris Fashion Week, I went for a couple of extra layers compared to the other days. It suddenly felt way colder than when we arrived, so it was the perfect day for this super soft silk Avelon coat that I already wore in the shoot I styled for The Collector.

At night, we went to the This is NY party, where also Karlie Kloss, Henry Holland, Rad Hourani, Katy Perry and a lot of cool kids were dancing their fashion asses off. So.Much.Fun!

There’s something about the Jardin des Tuileries that is so enchanting. I could spend days and days in those gardens, especially during spring and summer when the sun is shining and you don’t need to do nothing more than just enjoy that shiny yellow friend of ours.

Speaking of enchanting, there was also something fairy tail-like about the Viktor & Rolf show, even though the whole vibe of the show was a bit too dark for an actual fairy tail. There was something about the show that even made me a bit emotional, but I can’t really point my finger on what it was exactly. The show started of with a few pj-like looks in a very chic way, coming down a moon’s path resembling runway, lit up by an actual moon. The pj-like looks were followed by some classic tailoring – for example a black, kind of flowy, fur trimmed suit – and full-on-fur coats. The show ended with a super gorgeous Karlie Kloss wearing a dramatic long black bare shouldered dress with gold beading.

Day two in Paris started of with an early morning Roland Mouret show. A designer that can make every women’s body look sexy. Believe me, I tried on a couple of his dresses and jackets a few months ago at PL Line. Seriously, I never felt any sexier in my entire life. For next fall/winter, he was inspired by one of Europe’s coldest winters (1947) and showed his take on layering. His sexy dresses were still my personal favorite of the show though.

After some streetstyle snapping at Dior and Isabel Marant and falling down some stairs at Starbucks (yes, I’m clumsy like that) I went to one of my ultimate dream shows; Maison Martin Margiela. Perfectly constructed jackets with matching high slitted trousers and super high turtlenecks in a basic color palette walked by in a venue that was divided into small rooms completely covered in a wooden printed canvas. Little deconstructed details turned this into my favorite show so far.
